Norway will send eight German-made Leopard 2 tanks and other equipment to Ukraine to help in its war against Russia, the government announced in Oslo.
“Now more than ever, it is important to support Ukraine’s fight for freedom,” Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said.
Norway has said it will also send four special tanks from the armored engineering and bridge-laying category, with the exact choice depending on what Ukraine needs most.
Norway will also provide funds for ammunition and spare parts, the defense ministry said.
Norway, which borders Russia above the Arctic Circle, has a total of 36 Leopard 2 tanks.
