The Israeli military said Thursday it had launched airstrikes against targets linked to Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip in response to a series of rocket attacks in Israeli territory.
The Israel Defense Forces said the main targets of the airstrikes were a weapons manufacturing plant and a military compound.
Israel Air Defense Forces intercepted five of the six rockets fired from Gaza earlier, the sixth landed in an open area in southern Israel.
The cross-border attacks were preceded by an Israeli operation in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday that killed 11 Palestinians.
