Since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, 199 high-ranking Russian officers have died, reports the BBC. Friday, February 24 marks one year since the start of the military conflict.
According to the agency, the calculation of losses is based on data from open sources. The publication notes that since the start of NMD, 199 lieutenant colonels, colonels and generals have died in the war zone.
The Russian Ministry of Defense does not comment on these reports. The last time the losses of the Russian Armed Forces during a special operation were voiced by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. In September 2022, the head of the Department of Defense announced 5,937 military personnel.
The founder of the Wagner private military company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said earlier that since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the organization had destroyed around 100-110 thousand Ukrainian Armed Forces militants.
