“We know that at four years old, Ben is young and adventurous,” the zoo said in a statement posted on its website.
The bear first managed to escape on February 7. The animal would have found a weak point in the fence of the enclosure and loosened the mesh. After the incident, the protective barrier was reinforced with steel cables, but that did not stop Ben.
The bear spent about 50 minutes at large, which visitors and zoo workers spent inside.
Despite the fact that spectacled bears are not the largest in their family, males still reach a weight of 130-140 kilograms. They got their name from the characteristic yellowish color, which forms rings around the eyes, resembling glasses.
And on February 2, an owl escaped from a zoo in New York. After unsuccessful attempts to catch a bird of prey, it was decided to let the representative of the owl family named Falco go free. In addition, after several days of living in the central park, the eagle owl’s hunting instincts have recovered.
