Cavusoglu: Ankara still has questions for Stockholm ahead of Swedish NATO membership negotiations Fox News

At the same time, Cavusoglu pointed out that Sweden has not yet fulfilled its obligations under the memorandum signed last year. “We cannot say yes to Sweden’s NATO membership without seeing concrete steps,” Turkish foreign minister said, adding Ankara has far fewer complaints about Finland’s membership .

Representatives of the three countries will meet in Brussels and discuss whether the two Scandinavian countries have fulfilled their obligations.

Earlier, Turkey demanded that Sweden and Finland take a tougher stance against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Ankara considers a terrorist organization. Turkey is also seeking the extradition of members of FETO, the organization of Islamic preacher Fethullah GĂĽlen, believed to be involved in the 2016 coup attempt.

At the end of January, Ankara called off talks with Sweden on an investigation into NATO membership. It happened after Danish far-right politician Rasmus Paludan publicly burned a Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.
