Dr. Yablunovsky called parasites a possible cause of reduced immunity to Kostomarov

Moscow Agency | Alexander Avilov

Parasites could lead to a decrease in immunity in a seriously ill figure skater, Roman Kostomarov. Sports doctor Alexander Yablunovsky shared this opinion.

Yablunovsky believes that in ordinary life it is not easy to detect the presence of parasites in the human body. As a rule, they are forgotten. In his opinion, it is they who can cause a decrease in immunity to Kostomarov.

“Any parasitic infection weakens the immune system. For example, in cycling, it’s quite a big problem. After all, runners riding in the rain get their faces dirty and it’s quite easy to get a parasitic infection,” the doctor quotes. “KP-Sport”.

Recall that the Olympic champion was hospitalized on January 10. Doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia. However, later the athlete’s condition began to deteriorate. He developed sepsis, which led to the decision to amputate his foot and fingers.
