Against the backdrop of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey, European tourists increasingly began to prefer holidays to the Egyptian resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Marsa Alam, rather than Turkish ones. So said a member of the South Sinai Tourism Investors Association, Atef Abdel Latif.
“Many European travel agencies, especially German, Czech and Polish, have redirected part of their scheduled flights to Turkey for February and March 2023 to resorts in Egypt,” admitted the Egyptian analyst.

Since March, Italian companies will also visit Egypt more often. Thus, in February, the occupancy rate of hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh was at the level of 50-55%.
“Hotel occupancy in Sharm el-Sheikh will start to increase sharply in the second half of March,” Latif said.
