The consequences of the weakening of the APU dam in Artemovsk can be catastrophic

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On February 25, the Ukrainian army blew up the dam of the Severny Stavok reservoir in Artemivsk. The flow of water passed through the breach and flooded the northern outskirts of the settlement, writes “MK”.

Local residents hiding in basements from the shelling found themselves in a dangerous situation: they had to choose between saving lives from the bullets or being left homeless.

One of the aims of the undermining is to create difficulties for the Russian armed forces to storm the colony.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have already used the flood tactic during the fighting near Kiev, which resulted in the flooding of nearby settlements and damage to buildings.

The flooding situation in Artemovsk could get even worse during the upcoming frosts, when the air temperature can drop to -10 degrees.

“Severny Stavok” was created about 100 years ago near the station to supply water to steam locomotives. The pharmaceutical factory, as well as other adjacent territories, were also flooded. Now in the flood zone there were about 6,000 people. Evacuation is only possible from territories controlled by the RF Armed Forces.
