Why are the Air Defense Forces being reassigned to the Russian Aerospace Forces

The day before, sources reported that the ground air defense forces would be reassigned to the main directorate of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Military expert Aitech Bizhev explained why this was done in an interview with VZGLYAD.

The transfer of military air defense to the commander-in-chief of the aerospace forces will create a single radar and information field, as well as integrate all the necessary forces and means

– says the expert.

Thus, the entire air defense of the country will be focused on the implementation of specific tasks. The actions of Russian troops will be more understandable and debugged, which will increase the likelihood of detecting enemy targets.

At the same time, the transition of air defense under the authority of a single system of airborne forces will make aviation support more effective.

Meanwhile, similar measures of resubordination were already taken earlier – in the 80s and early 90s of the last century. However, a unified command did not develop, as air defense became an important component of ground forces.

According to Bizhev, the adoption of such a decision will lead to qualitative changes in the structure of the Russian armed forces, which will significantly improve the performance of combat missions. However, confirmation of this information at the official level has not yet followed.
