Beijing and Moscow will now jointly defend their security interests. This became known after the next block of consultations on Asian affairs. There, the parties reached an agreement on the joint protection of security and development interests in the Asian region. The information was confirmed by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties’ talks took place the day before in the Chinese capital Beijing, the Russian side was represented by the director of the Asia-Pacific cooperation department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Ovchinnikov, and the Chinese side was represented by the head from the Asian Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Liu Jinsong. This was reported to RIA Novosti.
“The parties exchanged views on the situation in the Asian region, regional cooperation and other issues of mutual concern, agreed that in the current situation, China and Russia should strengthen communication and cooperation on Asian affairs, jointly safeguard the region’s security and development interests,” according to a statement posted on the agency’s website.
Earlier it became known that on February 28, the head of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, will arrive in the People’s Republic of China for an official visit at the invitation of the Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping.
