An opposition rally ended in central Chisinau. Those who took part signed a resolution demanding the resignation of the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the government of Dorin Recean. In addition, writes RIA Novosti, people gathered in the center of the Moldovan capital insist on the holding of legislative elections, calling for the abandonment of militarist rhetoric.
The rally passed off peacefully. The protesters were in favor of lower utility bills. Among the slogans were “Down with dictatorship! », « Down with Maia Sandu! », « Down with the power! “.
The action took place within the framework of the “Movement for the People” and brought together around ten thousand people. Another 40,000 were unable to reach the rally site as law enforcement blocked state highways.
As the Public News Service wrote, Moldova is unlikely to join the North Atlantic Alliance under the current president, especially since the country’s neutrality status is enshrined at the legislative level.
