Against Alex Baldwin has filed a new lawsuit due to the murder of a cameraman during the filming of “Rust”

– Published on:

Three members of the ‘Rust’ film crew have filed a lawsuit against actor Alec Baldwin, who accidentally shot cameraman Galina Hutchins while filming the film. According to the lawsuit, they accuse the artist of having experienced anxiety and post-traumatic stress, while witnessing the death of Hutchins, they write. Independent And news from the nbc with a link to the document.
The lawsuit was filed by trolley operator Ross Addiego, costume designer Doran Curtin and cinematographer Reese Price. It appears from the document that all three were in close proximity to Baldwin when he fired. As a result, they were injured by the “deafening” sound of gunshots – in particular, because of this, Price “ringed” in his ears.
According to the lawsuit, Addiego, in turn, attempted to provide first aid to the injured Hutchins and director Daniel Souza. It also appears from the document that Curtin felt “the sound, the force and the physical trauma” of the shot and saw the operator fall at her feet, after which she tried to help him and after a while “lost awareness”.
Additionally, lawsuit filers allege that the film’s producers failed to follow standard on-set safety procedures. Specifically, the plaintiffs say they hired Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, the woman who was in charge of the weapons on set and who loaded the gun on the day of Hutchins’ murder, despite her lack of relevant experience. Thus, the authors of the film would have pursued the objective of organizing a “fast and cheap production”, the document derives.
Plaintiffs also accused Baldwin of being distracted during pistol practice and failing to ensure the pistol was loaded with live ammunition.

An incident during the filming of “Rust”

In October 2021, while filming Rust near Santa Fe, New Mexico, Alec Baldwin shot 42-year-old cameraman Galina Hutchins with a .45 Colt. Soon the woman died of a gunshot wound.
Baldwin was rehearsing for a scene in the film when Hutchins was shot, sources tell the Los Angeles Times. The revolver itself was used as an accessory, but it was loaded. At the same time, live ammunition was found at the site. Sources with knowledge of the filming process said work on Rust was done in haste and with safety violations.
Galina Hutchins is survived by her husband and nine-year-old son. The cameraman’s family sued and said the murder was the result of negligence by support staff and cutting filming costs. Baldwin claimed he did not pull the trigger on the revolver, but the FBI, following the results of the investigation, said the shot could not have happened without pulling the trigger.
In early February, Baldwin and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reid present criminal charge of manslaughter. They face up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. noted The New York Times later dropped the aggravating circumstance clause from the indictment against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed. If the actor and the gunsmith were charged with this clause, they would face up to five years in prison.
Charges were also filed against Rust assistant director David Halls, who pleaded not guilty and entered into a plea agreement.
