Turkish police arrest seismologist after claiming to rape women

Ahmet Ercan, a professor of geophysics at Istanbul Technical University, was arrested after posting information about the rape of women on Twitter. This was reported by the TGRT television channel.

The seismologist said that women who suffered from earthquakes were raped. According to him, this happened during the first two days, until the military arrived in the area of the incident.

“Ercan was detained in Elazig on the orders of the Malatya prosecutor in connection with an investigation into a case of incitement to hatred,” the report said.

The professor’s corresponding statement has already disappeared from Twitter. Only a few notes remain in his account after a trip to the city of Malatya, which also suffered from earthquakes.
