Sergei Gavrilov was appointed director of the regional security department. On March 3, the appointment document was signed by the governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev.
The post of head of the department remained vacant for 4 months – after the former head of the department, Mikhail Solovyov, left the government. For what reason Mikhail Solovyov left the leadership position is not known.
Prior to the appointment of a new head, First Deputy Viktor Smirnov was in charge of departmental affairs.
The new director is a local “executive”. Sergey Gavrilov worked in the police for more than 10 years. He holds a degree in automobile mechanics and a higher education in law from a specialized university of the Ministry of the Interior. From 2020 until his appointment to the government, he served as Deputy Chief of Police of the Russian Interior Ministry for the Yaroslavl region.
