The President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations implores the complete execution of the Doha Work Program to aid the most disadvantaged nations.

Her Excellency Mrs. La Chizarra Stoeva, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, stressed the importance of full implementation of the Doha Work Program and immediate and serious action in order to assist the least developed countries and achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030.

During her speech at the opening session of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which began today in Doha, Her Excellency Mrs. Stoeva stressed that helping the least developed countries is a shared international responsibility, saying: "Efforts must be strengthened to develop the least developed countries, which have enormous capabilities in terms of human, cultural and natural resources. What these countries need is sustainable economic growth so that everyone can live in peace and prosperity.". Her Excellency urged the speed and importance of the commitment of countries, development partners and governments at all levels to international agreements in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development by 2030, and added "We must act quickly to address these crises and make long-term efforts to accelerate recovery. Millions of youth and populations in the least developed countries can be a source and engine for transformative sustainable development.". She indicated that a large number of least developed countries were about to fall out of this category, "However, this exit must be irreversible and sustainable, and this requires the support of the international community", stressing that the Economic and Social Council will play an important role in this regard. At the end of her speech, Her Excellency Mrs. La Chizarra Stoeva, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, noted that the least developed countries face the risks of rising prices as well as restrictions related to fuel and food, noting that the difficult financial conditions have limited the capabilities of these countries to invest in sustainable development and address the effects of climate change. In this context, she suggested providing appropriate funding for the least developed countries, by launching a debt relief program and increasing financial flows for infrastructure and social infrastructure to enhance human development and the ability of these countries to face shocks and disasters.
