– Published on:

There was a skirmish between the Azerbaijani and Armenian military in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Azerbaijani military department said the incident occurred when Azerbaijani military stopped an unauthorized convoy suspected of carrying weapons. As a result of the exchange of fire, two Azerbaijani soldiers were reportedly killed. The Armenian Foreign Ministry reported the murder of three representatives of the Interior Ministry of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The department called the accusations of transporting weapons absurd, pointing out that the soldiers who made up the convoy had documents and had only service weapons.Recall that the international community recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. Most of its inhabitants are ethnic Armenians. In the 1990s Baku lost control of a significant part of the region. In 2020, Azerbaijan managed to retake part of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, after which Baku and Yerevan signed a cessation of hostilities agreement. Tensions remain in the region.
