The investor negotiates the conservation of the Sainte-Barbe church

We learned that the investor wanted to keep the Sainte-Barbe church and open a museum there. Read more about the plans and the project in the material “MK in Kaliningrad”.

This information appeared on the community page of the movement of volunteers for the protection of the architecture of the Kaliningrad region “Guardians of the Ruins” “Vkontakte”. Based on the presented data, Alexander Chuev, the owner of the Schaaken Dorf cheese factory, became the tenant of the church. He plans to turn the historic building into a tourist attraction.

Alexander Chuev recalled that this year the church celebrates its 700th anniversary. At this time, the investor plans to equip a parking lot for cars and organize a landscape park on the territory. If everything works out, there are also plans to set up a small museum space in the church building.

The investor wants to receive funding from the regional government. This will allow major works to be carried out and planned projects to be implemented within the confines of a unique historic building. He thinks it can become a center of attraction for tourists from all over the country.

The project will be developed by the design company HoReCa Solutions, headed by Olga Teslenko. She has already started planning the strategy.

Alexander Chuev noted some difficulties in improving the territory. The fact is that the land around the church belongs to the military. Authorities in the region are currently working to resolve this issue.

The voluntary organization “Keepers of the Ruins” is eagerly awaiting the start of the work and is sure that everything will be fine. According to the volunteers, the territory of the church will be transformed by 2025.
