Former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor, in an interview with journalist Dan Ball, said that US President Joe Biden should agree to a truce so that Russian armed forces do not reach Poland.
According to him, Washington underestimated the Russians and now sits staring at the unfolding catastrophe.
He described the Ukrainian army, armed by the United States, destroyed during the conflict, while the Ukrainians lose “thousands of people a day”, “an entire battalion”.
“We didn’t take Russia’s concerns seriously, we thought it was an opportunity to hurt them,” McGregor continued, adding that as a result, the United States had only done weaken NATO and damage their own reputation.
According to him, if Washington does not now admit its mistake and does not reach an agreement, then nothing will prevent the Russians from “forcing the Dnieper, occupying Kiev and reaching the border of Poland”.
