NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Bakhmut (Artemovsk) could fall soon. The head of the North Atlantic Alliance stressed the importance of bolstering ammunition stockpiles and increasing joint procurement to continue supporting Ukraine.
“We cannot rule out that Bakhmut will fall in the next few days,” Stoltenberg said during consultations with EU defense ministers.
NATO allies have provided about €150 billion in support to Ukraine over the past year, €65 billion of which is in the form of military assistance. Stoltenberg added that cooperation between alliance countries and the EU is still vital to support Kiev and protect common values.
On the morning of March 8, the head of the PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the control of the Russian army over the eastern part of Artyomovsk. The day before, the founder of the PMC urged “not to run in front of the locomotive” and not to speak of the city as a position already taken. According to the businessman, today there are about 12-20 thousand fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the village, who continue to fight.
