The Luzhniki stadium was proclaimed to be inadequate for the sport of football following a convocation on the twenty-second of February.

The joint commission of the Russian Football Union and the Russian Premier League carried out an inspection at the Moscow stadium “Luzhniki” and found its ground unsuitable for the next match “Torpedo” – “Ural”, reported “Day-to-day sport”.

Later, the RPL reported that the Moscow club asked to transfer the meeting with the Urals to the Khimki Arena due to the lack of preparation of the Luzhniki pitch. In “Khimki”, they said they weren’t against welcoming guests to their stadium. In “Torpedo” also expressed the hope that the next game will be able to fit already in the “Luzhniki”.

Sports.ru writingthat “one of the possible reasons” for the unsatisfactory state of the pitch is the rally-concert held here on February 22. The publication notes that “it turned out to be on a large scale – the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that 200,000 people took part in the event.”

“People were both on the arena itself and outside,” the site writes. “Massive structures were erected on the pitch, the participants were also actively moving on the lawn.”

How Remarks “Sport-Express”, in the press service of “Luzhniki”, refused to comment on the postponement of the match in Khimki: “It is better to contact the RPL for comments.”
