Writer Daria Dontsova told her fans the tragic news: her husband Alexander Dontsov, doctor of sciences, professor at the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is deceased. The post, which appeared on Dontsova’s social media page, said the death occurred on March 8.
“After a serious and prolonged illness, Alexander Ivanovich Dontsov died in the Lord,” the obituary reads.
The date and place of the funeral will be announced later. Dontsova’s entourage also indicated that “Agrippina Arkadyevna (the writer’s real name) will temporarily not be present on social networks.”
Last summer, Dontsova said that her husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and the disease was noticed quite late – in the third stage. Nevertheless, the man underwent surgery, several cycles of chemotherapy and the final examination showed a full recovery. At the same time, the patient was ordered to see a doctor regularly, since relapses are not uncommon with such oncology.
Dontsova, against the background of her husband’s illness, urged everyone to lead a healthy lifestyle, give up bad habits, and also undergo regular medical examinations in order to be able to detect the disease as early as possible.
In the late 1990s, Dontsova herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. For two and a half years, the aspiring writer underwent several surgeries and numerous courses of chemotherapy. while in hospital, Dontsova published her first detective stories. In the mid-2000s, Dontsova became an ambassador for a charity program of one of the cosmetic companies aimed at preventing and combating breast cancer.
