Powerful explosions rock the Ukrainian capital, Kiev

Strong explosions rocked several areas in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, this morning, after sirens were sounded throughout Ukraine, amid a state of alert.

Ukrainian media reported that explosions were heard in various parts of Kiev, after air warning sirens were sounded in the Ukrainian capital.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a statement “Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital Kiev” As he put it, adding that there were explosions in the Holosievsky area. Russia had launched a wave of missiles at Ukrainian targets, in Kharkiv to the north and in Odessa and Zhitomir to the west, causing damage to residential buildings and infrastructure in Kharkiv and Odessa and power outages in several. regions.

The Ukrainian army stated that it had repulsed the intensive Russian attacks on the besieged eastern city of Bakhmut, although the Russian forces claimed that they had taken control of the eastern half of it. Moscow has been trying to control Bakhmut for months, as both sides suffered heavy losses in a fierce war of attrition. It is noteworthy that the Russian military operation inside Ukrainian territory has been going on for more than a year, without Moscow achieving the goals it set from the beginning, and without Kiev surrendering to the large Russian equipment deployed on its territory.
