Ooredoo Group announced the extension of its partnership with ZTE by signing two agreements with the aim of giving Ooredoo access to the latest solutions and technologies from ZTE. The extension of the partnership with ZTE will contribute to raising the efficiency of Ooredoo’s business, ensuring that its networks are ready for the future, and will enable it, as a leading company in the digital field, to provide a unique customer experience, in addition to providing the latest communication services that customers can rely on. The first agreement includes the modernization of the Ooredoo Algeria network, whereby ZTE will carry out the work related to the radio access network (RAN) and the Internet Protocol (IP). The upgrade of the RAN network will enable Ooredoo to expand its business scope, and it includes upgrading the 2G, 3G and 4G networks, which prepares the network to upgrade to the 5G network in the future. As for the second agreement, ZTE will act as a supplier of battery products to the group, including modern battery technology such as lithium-ion batteries, which will enable Ooredoo to implement energy-saving solutions, thus reducing costs and carbon emissions. Commenting on this agreement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Deputy CEO, Ooredoo Group, said: "Our close collaboration with ZTE has enabled us to take the next step in technological innovation across many of Ooredoo’s business units. By continuing to operate with ZTE’s leading solutions, we will be able to operate in emerging and new markets, and continue to transform our business". The network modernization agreement aims to support Ooredoo Algeria in providing the best customer experience, in addition to ensuring the continuity of its business in the future. As for the part of the agreement related to the use of battery products, it will enable Ooredoo companies operating in their locations to achieve energy efficiency. For his part, said Xiao Meng, President of Global Sales at ZTE: "The partnership between ZTE and Ooredoo is full of fruitful, long-term cooperation. To contribute to accelerating Ooredoo’s digital transformation, ZTE will continue to provide modern solutions to Ooredoo Group companies. These innovative solutions will contribute to providing high-performance networks, while providing an outstanding customer experience, using ZTE’s cost-effective solutions and technologies.". It is noteworthy that the signing of the extension of the partnership agreement between the two parties took place during the Mobile World Congress, which is the most prominent global event in the telecommunications sector, and its activities concluded on March 2, 2023, in Barcelona, Spain. For his part, Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Nama, Regional CEO of Ooredoo Group, said: "We at Ooredoo have a strong and solid partnership with ZTE over the past years. We are pleased to expand the horizons of our cooperation with ZTE to include more areas. The extension of the partnership between the two parties will allow them to continue joint work in the field of modern networks provided by one of the world’s leading companies in the provision of communications solutions and communications technology, which contribute to the development of the lives of our customers. ZTE has demonstrated its capabilities by providing the latest integrated solutions. For our part, we look forward to developing our cooperation in many other aspects".
