pxhere.comThe Council of the European Union and the European Parliament have agreed on a decision to reduce energy consumption by 2030 through energy-efficient technologies by 11.7% compared to planned energy consumption for 2030. This follows from the decision of the Council of the EU.
This means that the final energy consumption should be 763 million tons of oil equivalent, and the primary – 993 million tons, the document says. From now on, the corresponding measure must be approved by all the 27 States of the community within the Council of the EU.
According to the European Commission, in 2021, total energy consumption in the region reached 952 million tonnes of oil equivalent. It increased by 5% compared to covid 2020, when the community saw a drop in energy consumption amid the lockdowns.
