The Spanish Football Federation has entered into talks with Morocco for Rabat to join the joint Spanish and Portuguese bid to organize the 2030 World Cup, according to a newspaper. "ace" Spanish.
And the Spanish newspaper revealed, on Friday, according to Al-Hurra, that the Spanish and Portuguese Football Federations are discussing the possibility of including Morocco in the joint file, to compensate Ukraine in the event that it is unable to participate in the file for organizing the 2030 World Cup finals, due to suspicions of corruption pursuing the Ukrainian Football Federation.
For its part, said the newspaper "The Athletic" The US said that Morocco is set to replace Ukraine and join Spain and Portugal in their bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
The file of Spain, Portugal and Ukraine, which was announced last October, was supported by the European Football Association.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the move, and the Portuguese Football Federation said at the time that the offer "It aims to contribute through the power of football to the recovery of a country undergoing reconstruction".
However, the prospect of Ukraine recovering to host the World Cup matches within seven years "increasingly dwindling"according to The Athletic, which referred to the continuation of the war that devastated large parts of the country.
In the same context, explained the newspaper AS"That the involvement of the Ukrainian file to host this football match seems unlikely due to the alleged corruption case in which the President of the Ukrainian Federation, Andriy Pavelko, was involved, and in this context, she explained that"The Spanish Football Federation is keen to distance itself from the scandal and has decided to leave Ukraine on the sidelines until the case is resolved and everything is clear.".
An expert in sports politics, Moncef El-Yazghi, says that the idea of a joint file with Portugal and Spain appears to be "seductive"For the first time, a World Cup will be organized between the African and European continents, between countries that are geographically close and have a cultural commonality, despite the diversity of the specificities of each country.
Al-Yazghi highlights that Morocco may agree to the idea of joint organization, as it will not be able to submit its candidacy alone, especially in light of the new changes related to raising the number of participating teams to 48, starting from the 2026 round, which will complicate its chances if it submits an individual file.
Morocco announced that it would bid to host the 2030 World Cup in July 2018, after five previous attempts to host the tournament, in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010 and 2026.
It is expected that the tripartite file will compete with two other joint files, the first of which includes Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece, while the second brings together the countries of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile.
