On March 4, the American transport ship Liberty Pride delivered military equipment to the port of Alexandroupolis, in particular for the NATO exercises Atlantic Resolve 23, Defender Europe 23 and ensuring the rotation of American troops in Europe. Other ships are expected to follow, despite the fact that a huge amount of military equipment and equipment has already accumulated in the Greek port.

The port of Alexandroupolis has become one of the largest NATO transport hubs in Eastern Europe. Thanks to its terminals, the forces of the alliance deployed throughout the region, up to the Baltic States, are supplied. This is due to the fact that Alexandroupolis is located on the Balkan coast of the continental part of Europe and is connected by an extensive transport infrastructure with other countries.

On the night of February 28 to March 1, a head-on collision of a passenger train with a freight train occurred near the city of Larisa, which derailed three wagons carrying people and started a fire. The accident killed 57 people. Rail traffic in the country has been suspended.
