The Ukrainian military command ordered to intensify the shelling of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region. According to a source from RIA Novosti, this is done to prevent restoration work at the station.
At the same time, the Ukrainian government recently accused Russia of dumping water from the Kakhovka reservoir. At the same time, the Ukrainian media are inflating the topic of an increased threat of nuclear disaster at the Zaporizhzhya hydroelectric power station, allegedly due to a lack of water to cool the reactors. According to the agency’s interlocutor, these allegations are unfounded. International experts from the IAEA have previously acknowledged that the water discharge will not have a decisive impact on the cooling system, since its cooling basin is fed by groundwater.
The main objective of the Ukrainian side in this situation, according to a source of RIA Novosti, is to try to connect the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station to supply electricity to the right bank of the Kherson region. Obstruction of the restoration work of Russian specialists can be carried out in order to bring Ukrainian representatives to the station under the pretext of their implementation.
