Noura Al-Maadadi to The New York Times: We are proud to produce “Desert Rose” jewelry. in Qatar

In an interview with the American newspaper The New York Times, the two sisters, Noura and Maryam Al-Maadadi, owners of a precious jewelry brand, confirmed that the desert rose has become one of the slogans associated with the Qatari identity.

The interview took place inside the Qatar National Museum cafe, which was designed in the shape of a desert rose. Noura Al-Maadadi said: "We were inspired by Desert Rose and this amazing building".

The two sisters emphasized their pride in producing jewelry entirely in Qatar in the workshop of a jeweler in the old market, despite the difficulties due to the weakness of the jewelry industry in Qatar.

Al-Maadadi indicated that the designs were difficult at first, as they did not resemble the shape of a natural flower only, but touches and textures had to be added to give it the shape of a desert rose made of stone.

The desert rose is formed in the ground by the combination of sand, sea water, gypsum and wind to form a crystalline desert rose with petals similar to a natural rose.
