Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev expressed the view that the United States controlled Angela Merkel when she was German chancellor.
The modern German state is not independent, Patrushev said, arguing that Washington imposes its economic and environmental policies on Berlin. The Secretary of the Security Council said that the United States had a military contingent of 35,000 men in Germany.
The United States is forcing German leaders “to accept the version of the pipeline sabotage that benefits the American authorities,” Patrushev said.
