Speech therapist Pokrovskaya advised parents not to try to correct the child’s speech on their own

unsplash.comIt is very difficult to correct a child’s speech at home without the help of a specialist, since parents may simply not hear the problems.

There is also a risk of putting the wrong sound. This was warned by the president of the Guild of speech therapists and defectologists Yulia Pokrovskaya. According to her, speech therapists study for four years in order to hear and understand what is happening with the language and how the pronunciation changes.

“A child can have such pronunciation disorders that parents do not notice or confuse with age-related characteristics,” the expert pointed out in an interview with NEWS.ru .

If parents still do not want to take their child to a specialist, the speech therapy industry offers online courses. On them, mom or dad is more likely to be able to correct pronunciation, and also receive a lot of useful tips about their child, Pokrovskaya concluded.
