A medical specialist claims that overweight people have increased survival rates for cancer. This is due to the fact that T-lymphocytes are actively proliferating in their body – special cells that are important for maintaining the immune system. According to Savonina, obesity also increases the production of the hormone ghrelin. It improves the contractility of the heart, thereby reducing the risk of developing heart failure. However, the doctor points out that being overweight is not exclusively beneficial, as it increases the risk of developing diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
