Lavrov said that in Ukraine there is a peak of persecution of canonical Orthodoxy

duma.gov.ru | STATE DUMA OF THE FEDERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATIONThe peak of persecution of canonical Orthodoxy is now seen in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

According to him, the expulsion of monks from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra should not be allowed. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a letter about the persecution of the UOC to UN Secretary General AntĂłnio Guterres and OSCE chief Buyar Osmani.

In his traffic Lavrov urged international leaders to demand from Kiev an end to arbitrariness and repression against priests.

The Minister pointed out that the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to expel the monks from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra was taken under a far-fetched pretext. Thus, the Kiev regime wants to deprive the canonical UOC of one of its main sanctuaries.
