The Global Terrorism Index was published by the Institute for Economics and Peace. According to experts, the number of terrorist attacks is decreasing, but their dangerousness and lethality are increasing.

The Russian Federation has improved its position compared to last year and now ranks 45th in the world, between Djibouti and New Zealand. It should be noted that the most difficult terrorist situation is currently in Afghanistan, writes Kommersant.

In 2022, there were 3955 terrorist attacks in the world, almost 28% less than in 2021. The number of victims decreased by 9%, it amounts to 6701 people. The positive trend is especially visible if we pay attention to the information from 8 years ago, for 2015. Compared to this year, the number of victims decreased by 38%.

According to the Institute of Economics and Peace, the top 10 countries for terrorist attacks look like this: 10th place – Niger, 9th place – Myanmar, 8th place – Nigeria, 7th place – Iraq, 6th place – Pakistan, 5th place – Syria, 4th place – Mali, 3rd place – Somalia, 2nd place – Burkina Faso and the first, as we have already written, Afghanistan. It should be noted that Afghanistan has been holding the world championship for four years in a category that is not the most enviable.
