On March 30, a case against a man accused of violating sexual privacy will be filed in Western District Court.
The anonymized indictment of the case states that the offenses were committed on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in communication with a woman via the Snapchat communication program. The man allegedly sent the woman a nude photo of herself without her consent. He then threatened to distribute more nude photos of her, and the threat allegedly served to make the woman scared and anxious.
The offenses relate to paragraphs 1 and 2 of article 199 bis of the General Penal Code, but they are as follows:
“Anyone who prepares, acquires, distributes or publishes images, text or similar material, including false material, nude or sexual behavior of another person without their consent shall be liable to a fine or imprisonment for up to 4 years The same penalty will be imposed on the person who threatens what is analyzed in paragraph 1, provided that the threat is likely to cause fear or anxiety in the person to whom it is addressed.”
The district attorney is demanding that the man be sentenced and pay all court costs. The woman seeks damages in the amount of one million ISK.
