The Traktorozavodsky District Court of Volgograd found two local residents guilty under the paragraphs. “a”, “b” part 6 of art. 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the joint press service of regional courts, from October 8, 2021 to January 23, 2022, men bought, stored and transported unmarked tobacco products for a total amount of more than 19 million rubles. Residents of Volgograd left counterfeit products in rented garages.

Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the region stopped the criminal activities of the intruders. Tobacco products were seized in illegal circulation.

In court, one of the suspects fully admitted his guilt and repented. He was given a 2-year suspended prison sentence and a fine of 400,000 rubles.

The second accomplice admitted his guilt only partially. He was sentenced to 2 years in a penal colony with a fine of 300,000 rubles. The defendant, however, appealed the verdict.

The Volgograd Regional Court studied the case documents, listened to the participants in the process and left the verdict of the District Court unchanged.

The verdict went into effect.
