Valentin Demidov expounded upon the proposals for remedying subterranean passageways in Belgorod.

Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov said authorities in the regional center plan to repair all pedestrian crossings in the city. He noted that each of them, to one degree or another, needs to be updated. Therefore, now the administration is determined with the necessary limit amount.

“We have both extrabudgetary sources and funds that must be included in the budget. Now we will make adjustments to the budget, and the amount of funds that we are ready to implement this year, we will allocate this year,” explained the mayor.

The mayor also broached the subject of the underground trade. He mentioned that some of the underground passages are already pre-designed to place stores there. Therefore, he sees nothing wrong with it, if everything is organized in a civilized way. It also depends a lot on the size of the room.

In the underground passages, they plan to organize the points of sale in the form of small shops so that the products are not located in the public space. It is also possible that an assortment list will be discussed with the tenants.

“There is already a current situation on rents, including long-term. It is therefore necessary to use it as efficiently as possible for the city and to oblige the tenants to fulfill the duties that they must perform and, in fact, to implement one of the concepts that we have proposed”, said Valentin Demidov.
