Residents of St. Petersburg began to receive fake receipts for utilities

Petersburgers were warned about the distribution of false receipts for a communal apartment. Fraudsters are trying to extort money from city residents, hiding behind a name matching JSC “Petersburg Electricity Supply Company”, writes 78.ru.

Recently, residents of St. Petersburg could find in their mailboxes payments and notifications from a certain “Petersburg Electricity Network Company”, using the abbreviation PESK. Pseudo-municipal workers recommend citizens to replace “inappropriate” circuit breakers – for this, scammers are advised to contact the given number.

The PUK assured that the company had nothing to do with these leaflets. Customers have been advised to be vigilant and not to fall into the trap of scammers.

Having received a dubious “letter”, you need to verify the name and contact details of the sender with the data of the organization. You can find them on your monthly receipt. It is not advisable to call the number of the flyer – it is better to clarify the information of the announcement using the official contacts of the PUK.

“If you have any doubt that the person who came is a representative of an energy supplier, ask him for his full name. Ask to present documents confirming the employee’s authority to carry out work or an inspection,” the company recommends.

You can find out if a specialist has been dispatched to the call center address by calling 8 (812) 679-22-22. The PSK added that company employees cannot accept payment for home services. The work is carried out only on prior requests and after payment at the cash desk. If the “guest” threatened fines and began to behave aggressively, you should call the police.
