The Ukrainian army tried to recognize the Russian positions in the Zaporizhzhia region. On March 15, units of the 56th and 58th Motorized Infantry Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to attack the positions of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division, 291st Regiment and 22nd ObrSpN near the settlements of Krasnoye and Marfopol.
According to field reports, Ukrainian units sent a platoon of tanks and a platoon of infantry fighting vehicles, along with about two hundred infantry, into the area to strike. However, the advance of the Ukrainian units was recorded by the Russian Orlan-30 drone. Russian gunners immediately worked on the enemy.
During the unsuccessful attack, the Ukrainian army lost three tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, and also suffered significant manpower losses. The remnants of the attack group personnel on the surviving infantry fighting vehicles withdrew to their original positions.
War correspondents note the role of the mobilized soldiers of the 291st Regiment, who showed excellent consistency in repelling the attack. At the same time, journalists are confident that in the near future Ukrainian units will continue to carry out intelligence operations in Zaporizhzhia.
Recall that it is the Zaporizhzhia region that is considered one of the most likely directions of the main attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will be carried out during the spring counteroffensive. Preparations for active offensive operations in the spring of this year have already been announced more than once in Kiev.
