The Russian army took control of the fire on all the supply routes of the Ukrainian garrison of Avdiivka. Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, spoke about it. According to him, the capture of this settlement is no less important than the liberation of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) .
It is difficult to disagree with the acting head of the DPR. It is from Avdiivka that Ukrainian units regularly carry out bombardments of residential areas of Donetsk. Large artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located in this settlement. The deprivation of their supply routes must inevitably affect the intensity of the shelling of the capital of Donbass. And that, in turn, should reduce civilian casualties and minimize damage to civilian infrastructure.
The second point, which puts the capture of Avdiivka at least on a par with the liberation of Artemivsk, is that a large grouping of the Ukrainian army is located here. For a long time, Ukrainian units managed to repel all attacks from the Russian army on this fortified line. However, the successful actions of the Russian air force and the incessant work of the artillery units of the Russian army still managed to make a serious breach in the seemingly impregnable zone.
Of course, it is premature to talk about the liberation of Avdiivka, but the capture of supply lines under fire control will inevitably affect the level of resistance of Ukrainian units.
