Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Evmenov: all Russian submarines can be armed with hypersonic missiles

The Russian military has announced its intention to equip submarines with hypersonic weapons.

According to Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, tests of Kalibr cruise missiles have been carried out in second-generation submarines. As noted, almost all active submarines, including strategic submarine cruisers, can already be equipped with it. The next step is to equip submarines with hypersonic missile weapons, Evmenov said in an interview with the Russian Defense Ministry’s Red Star publication.

Earlier, it was officially learned that the Zircon hypersonic missiles will arm the multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the 885M Yasen-M project.
