Navy Commander-in-Chief Nikolai Evmenov said Russian submarines, including strategic submarines, will be equipped with hypersonic weapons. In an interview with the Krasnaya The Eastern Herald newspaper, Evmenov also confirmed that Kalibr missiles have already been tested on second-generation submarines.

Today, Caliber can be equipped with almost any active submarine, including strategic cruisers, Yevmenov noted.

The next step is to equip submarines with hypersonic missile weapons. Let no one doubt that we will

  • said the commander-in-chief.

Today, the Russian Navy has about 10 submarine projects and their modifications. There is also a process of unifying submarines and reducing the number of projects in order to simplify and reduce the cost of their construction, repair, operation and disposal.

The day before, Konstantin Biryulin, deputy director of the Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV), told RIA Novosti that the defense industry allows the transfer of hypersonic technologies to friendly countries. However, this decision is political and can only be taken at the highest level by the leaders of the country.

Biryulin added that such a decision should be carefully considered and weighed beforehand. And only after the appropriate order, technologies will be transferred to other countries.

As an example, the deputy director of the company cited joint Russian-Indian cooperation in the defense industry. Moscow and New Delhi are successfully implementing the BrahMos supersonic missile production program and a number of other projects.
