On the eve of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow from March 20 to 22, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin clarified during a briefing the principles according to which relations with Russia will be built.
“The two countries have always adhered to a new type of great power relationship,” Wenbin said, noting that this type of relationship involves partnership rather than bloc membership and dialogue rather than confrontation.
Moreover, according to the Chinese diplomat, Moscow and Beijing always profess the principles of peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation.
“China-Russia relations are based on the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third parties,” Wenbin said.
He also noted that the strategic partnership between Russia and China goes far beyond bilateral relations.
