A magnitude 4 earthquake has occurred in Tajikistan, as Umeda Yusufi, press secretary of the country’s Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Committee, informed, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 260 kilometers to the south -east of Dushanbe. In the capital of the republic itself, the magnitude of the earthquake was at level 2.
“An earthquake of magnitude 4 occurred in Tajikistan on Saturday at 05:01 (03:01 Moscow time. – ed. approx.),” Yusufi said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
It was noted that no casualties or destruction were recorded.
Previously, a large 5.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded by seismologists off Java, Indonesia on the evening of Friday, March 17. The epicenter of the tremors was at a depth of 10 kilometers in the sea off Java.
