The expert called the reasons and consequences of Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow

Boris Rozhin, an expert from the Center for Military-Political Journalism, spoke about what will be agreed in Moscow by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, whose visit is scheduled for March 20-22. According to him, first of all, the Chinese leader will promote Beijing’s “peace agreements” on Ukraine.

Rozhin believes that China’s moves “partly satisfy Russia and completely displease the United States.”

In addition, according to Rozhin, the leaders of the two countries will sign documents that will help increase exchanges between Moscow and Beijing, as well as the growth of trade flows.

The expert does not expect official statements on arms deliveries following the results of the visit – it is not customary to expose such matters. However, he admits that Putin and Xi Jinping will talk about military drones. Rozhin recalled that now Beijing does not prevent Moscow from buying commercial and industrial drones, helmets and bulletproof vests, thermal imagers and much more.

For Xi Jinping, a visit to Moscow is important to obtain confirmation from Russia of its support for China’s position on Taiwan. The expert considers inevitable the escalation of the situation around the island, which is inflamed by the United States. Cooperation with Moscow is also becoming important for Beijing due to the emergence of the QUAD and AUKUS military blocs in the Indo-Pacific region.

Beijing sees a US-led coalition being forged against them, so they will strengthen their ties with Russia, Iran, Thailand, etc.

Rojine underlined.

Earlier, CNN reported that the United States had approved the sale of 220 Tomahawk cruise missiles to Australia to equip surface ships and Virginia-class nuclear submarines. The deal will be worth $895 million. The sale of missiles will take place within the framework of the AUKUS defense partnership.
