German Justice Minister Bushman vows to arrest Putin if he visits the country

If Russian President Vladimir Putin, for whatever reason, sets foot on German soil, he will be arrested and extradited to The Hague. This statement was made by the head of the Ministry of Justice of Germany, Marco Buschmann, in an interview with Die Zeit.

The German minister stressed that he was ready to comply with the demands of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the “arrest” of the Russian leader in the event of a visit to the country. Bushman expressed his belief that Berlin simply could not disobey the court’s decision.

“The ICC will quickly contact Interpol and request the execution. Then Germany will be forced to arrest President Putin and hand him over to the ICC if he enters German territory,” explained the head of the department in his view of the situation.

The article notes that Germany is a member state of the ICC and therefore must arrest the wanted persons and transfer them to The Hague.

Earlier, the ICC’s decision on an “arrest” warrant against the President of Russia was commented on in the United States. US leader Joe Biden felt that was warranted.
