Vladimir Putin arrived in Mariupol by helicopter. Then he traveled by car with stops through the neighborhoods of the city driving a car. The Head of State inspected several objects and spoke with local residents.
During his visit to Donbass, the President was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The official told him about the progress of construction and restoration works in Mariupol’s residential areas, social and educational facilities, housing infrastructure and communal services and medical institutions, reports the Kremlin press service.
The Deputy Prime Minister showed the Head of State the new building of the Philharmonie, which was restored in three months. According to Khusnullin, the reconstruction of the center of Mariupol should be completed by the end of the year.
“The center is badly damaged, in the central part of the buildings there are monuments. We thought for a long time – demolish, not demolish. Decided to save, did all the design and estimate documentation. We want to finish the center by the end of the year, at least the facade part,” explained Marat Khusnullin.
The city authorities launched the movement of public transport. Today, 110 buses are running in Mariupol, and they promise to launch the first trams by summer, Khusnullin added.
“People started coming back. When they saw that the restoration was underway, people began to actively return. Population growth,” he said.
Also, in one of the microdistricts, Vladimir Putin spoke with local residents, and then, at the invitation of his family, visited their homes. The President also toured the city’s coastline and visited the memorable places of Mariupol.
“Can I say hello to you? We have seen you on TV many times,” the surprised locals turned to the president.
After visiting the territory of the DPR, Vladimir Putin arrived in Rostov-on-Don. There he held a meeting at the command post of a special military operation with the Chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, and his deputy commander of the NVO, Sergei Surovikin.
Earlier, Notepad reported that Mariupol was to be fully restored and even upgraded within three years.
