Strong wind expected in Karelia at night

Information came from the Karelian Hydrometeorological Center that on the night of March 19, a south, southwest wind with gusts of up to 15-17 meters per second will rage in the region.

The adverse weather event will cover 9 districts, 1 city district and 1 municipal district. Thus, bad weather will reach Kondopozhsky, Lahdenpokhsky, Medvezhyegorsky, Olonetsky, Pitkyarantsky, Prionezhsky, Pryazha, Pudozhsky, Sortavalsky regions. The list also includes the municipal district of Suojärvi and Petrozavodsk.

The Karelia Ministry of Emergency Situations advised not to leave cars under trees in such weather. If the tree fell on the wires, you should not cut it. Drivers have been advised not to travel by private transport if possible. If a trip is unavoidable, you should have a flashlight, a towing device, and a phone loaded with emergency numbers. Lifeguards also advise avoiding suspension bridges, wires hanging above the ground and not leaving children unattended in the street.
