Indonesian authorities expelled 47 foreigners from Bali, including 13 Russians, for violations of residence conditions and abuse of residence permits. On this subject writing Bloomberg, without specifying which period they are talking about.

The head of Bali’s justice ministry, Angiat Napitupulu, called the deportation a last resort. He also said a Ukrainian citizen was being investigated after he was found with a fake Indonesian identity card.

According to Bloomberg, law enforcement officials in Bali, on the eve of the religious holiday Day of Silence, celebrated this year on March 22, launched a five-day operation “to curb criminal activity, especially among tourists”.

In mid-March, the governor of Bali called for a halt to issuing visas to Russians and Ukrainians upon arrival in Indonesia due to visa violations and unruly behavior on the roads. However, Bloomberg notes that the country’s government “always welcomes” the entry of Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

Al Jazeera TV channel citing Bali International Airport data informed that after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia in September 2022, about 20,000 Russians come to the Indonesian island every month, some of them getting jobs without proper visas. This is causing discontent among local residents, who are complaining that their jobs are being taken away from them, the TV station said.

This has led to the emergence of accounts on Instagram* that track advertisements for services posted by Russians and other foreigners, calling for their deportation. The Bali authorities did not approve the initiative. Bali’s immigration chief Barron Iksan urged complaining about illegal workers through official channels, and also noted that it is impossible to deport people “without clear reasons”.

On March 9, Russian showman Mikhail Shats** was expelled from Indonesia when he was to give a concert in Bali. Prior to the performance of Schatz**, the concert hall was raided by immigration officers. According to the comedian, they were not satisfied with the documents prepared by the organizers of the concert.
