Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said he wanted to drag Hungary into the conflict in Ukraine and increase pressure on it. But she will not change her position and will not supply Kiev with weapons, the foreign minister wrote on his social network page.
Szijjarto is taking part in a meeting with his colleagues from EU countries in Brussels these days.
The pressure on us is increasing, they want to drag us into a war in a neighboring country, but we are holding on, because the will of the Hungarian people is clear: we must stay away from this war, said the Hungarian minister.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs commented on the agenda of the Brussels meeting. He noted that now, unfortunately, “there are more and more proposals” in favor of the conflict. And this time we are talking about the joint purchase of ammunition and their transfer to Ukraine.
As for the Hungarian government, it initially said it would not supply arms to Kiev and offered to seek a peaceful solution to the conflict, Szijjarto concluded.
Earlier, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said the US government currently considers a truce in Ukraine impossible.
