The Kremlin has explained why Chinese leader Xi Jinping was greeted at the airport not by Russian President Vladimir Putin, but by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernychenko.

“It is not provided for by state protocol,” reports Podyom in the words of the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

Instead of Putin, the delegation of foreign guests was welcomed by Dmitry Chernyshenko, who heads the intergovernmental commission. Together with Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and Russian Ambassador to Beijing Igor Morgulov were present in Vnukovo.

Earlier, the Main Regional published the menu for the informal dinner between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, which will take place today, March 20.
